Geo-Grid Rank Tracking
Geo-grid rank tracking measures Map Pack rankings at a grid of geographic points around a business location — visualising rank as a heatmap rather than a single number.
In context
Map Pack rankings vary by physical location of the searcher — a business may rank #1 from its own address but #6 a kilometre away. Geo-grid tools (Local Falcon, Places Scout, BrightLocal Local Search Grid) probe rank from a 5×5 or 7×7 grid of points and visualise as a heatmap. Use geo-grid tracking to spot weak coverage zones, prioritise neighbourhood-targeted content, and measure the effect of GBP changes on coverage radius.
A Toronto roofer's geo-grid showed strong rankings within 2km of HQ but weak coverage in Etobicoke — adding Etobicoke-specific neighbourhood pages and earning a few Etobicoke-based reviews extended the coverage zone over 90 days.
