Technical SEO
Nofollow
Quick Definition
Nofollow is a link attribute (rel='nofollow') that tells search engines not to pass authority through that link. As of 2019, Google treats it as a hint rather than a directive.
In context
Use nofollow for paid links, untrusted user-generated content, and links you can't vouch for. Internal nofollows are rarely needed in modern SEO. The attributes rel='sponsored' and rel='ugc' are more specific alternatives.
