Search Console API

Quick Definition

The Search Console API exposes Google Search Console data programmatically — query / page / date breakdowns of impressions, clicks, position, and CTR — beyond the dashboard's UI limits.

In context

GSC dashboard is rate-limited to 1000 rows per query and 16 months of history. The API supports the same row limits per call but enables aggregation across many calls — useful for warehouse loads, weekly automated reports, and analyses that exceed the dashboard's filter capabilities. Pull GSC data into BigQuery (Google offers a native GSC → BigQuery export as of 2023) for the cleanest large-scale analysis.

Example

A Toronto agency loads daily GSC data into BigQuery via the native export and joins to GA4 BigQuery export — enabling per-page query-level conversion attribution that neither tool can produce alone.
