HTTPS
Quick Definition
HTTPS is the encrypted version of HTTP. Google made it a confirmed ranking factor in 2014, and Chrome flags non-HTTPS sites as 'Not Secure'.
In context
HTTPS is mandatory in 2026. Free SSL certificates are available via Let's Encrypt and most modern hosts enable HTTPS by default. There's no scenario where HTTP-only operation makes sense for a real business.
