All HTTP status codes
2xx Success
RFC 9110
200 OK
The request succeeded and the server returned the requested resource.
What it means
HTTP 200 OK is the standard success response. The exact meaning depends on the request method: GET returned the resource, POST returned the result, PUT or DELETE returned status of the action.
When it's used
Default success response for nearly every successful HTTP transaction on the web.
Common causes
- Page loaded successfully
- API call returned valid data
- File served correctly
How to fix it
- Not an error — this is what you want
- If you expected a redirect or 304, check your cache headers
- If serving an SEO page, ensure the response body contains real content (not blank or app-shell)
Example response
HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Length: 12345
SEO impact
Required for indexing. Pages must return 200 (not 301, 404, or 5xx) to be eligible for ranking.
