Content Refresh
A content refresh is a purposeful update to an existing page when its facts, usefulness, search intent, or performance show that it needs improvement.
In context
Use evidence to decide when and what to refresh: check whether facts or references have changed, whether the page still answers the query, and whether relevant search visibility or business outcomes have shifted. There is no universal refresh interval, and changing a date alone does not make a page more useful. Preserve a stable URL when the page still serves the same intent; if a URL change is warranted, map it carefully and use a relevant permanent redirect rather than assuming the old signals transfer automatically. For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Google's published guidance points site owners back to ordinary SEO fundamentals, not a separate refresh formula.
