NewsArticle

A news article. Most specific Article subtype — strongly recommended for Google News and Top Stories.

What it is

NewsArticle is the recommended type for time-sensitive editorial content and is one of the strongest signals for Google News surfaces, the Top Stories carousel, and the News tab. Inclusion is not strictly gated by markup — Publisher Center registration and editorial standards matter more — but the right structured data measurably increases eligibility and feature richness. Pair with datelined sources, named author, and fact-checking for best results.
